  • Mr Danson's Super Spelling Challenge

    Tue 31 Mar 2020 J Danson

    Mr Danson's super spelling challenge!

    Morning everyone!

As a way to keep your brains busy (in addition to DB primary tasks and your home learning packs) we will be starting a super spelling challenge everyday from today via the school Facebook page and our school app.

There will be a different challenge, per day, for pupils in:
    1. The Early Years
    2. Key Stage 1
    3. Lower Key Stage 2 (Y3 and Y4)
    4. Upper Key Stage 2 (Y5 and Y6)

Keep hold of all your answers (jot them down on a slip of paper) and when we're all back together again at school, there will be a prize draw for the children with the most correct answers!

But it doesn't stop at our pupils ... come on parents, carers, governors, friends and family ...get involved and keep your mind active with our daily super spelling challenge.

    Good luck!

Please do feel free to share this post with others, who would appreciate an activity to do during this period, such those having to self-isolate at the moment.

  • Letter writing in Year 6

    Fri 20 Mar 2020 J Danson

Our wonderful Year Sixes have written letters to the residents of the local care and rest homes in Barton, who we know will find the next few weeks difficult with reduced contact and visitors in their homes.

We are so proud of the wonderful attitudes and fantastic letters that our children have written this morning. They will be delivered next week.

Thank you Year 6 - you are fantastic!

  • School closure plans

    Wed 18 Mar 2020

    Planning for partial/total school closures

With the continued spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, we have begun putting plans in place to try to minimise potential disruption to teaching and learning.  If staffing numbers fall below a safe level to keep the whole school open, we will follow the guidance given by the Department for Education at that time.  We are currently fully staffed but we know this could change rapidly. Staff are in the process of preparing Home Learning Packs for the children and these will be sent home with the children if we have to close for any reason.  For families already in isolation we will endeavour to get the packs posted out to you.  In addition to an exercise book with work, staff will be uploading activities to our virtual learning platform, DB Primary.  Your child’s log in details will be sent home in the packs in case they have forgotten.  Teachers and teaching assistants will be available on this platform to communicate with the children should they have any questions.

We are keen to ensure that our usual level of care, guidance and support is offered at this time.  Should we close, Miss Sandon, Mr Danson and myself will be available via email for any questions or issues you should have.  We have had confirmation that Children’s Services are also still available should you feel you need their support on their usual number of 01724 296500 and we will be in constant contact with PCSO Ali Clayton

The local authority are looking into possible solutions for children who would be in receipt of free school meals and as soon as we know if there will be any actions regarding this we will let you know.

At this stage we are still waiting for firm guidance from the Department for Education on what provision will be made availble, however as soon as we know more we will communicate with you.

Please bear with us through these challenging times and be assured that we are doing our very best to respond to this rapidly evolving situation in the interests of everyone in our school community.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

The route was either one or two Km for the children and ten km for the adults off road with obstacles and mud, lots of mud! Everyone ran amazingly well and were great representatives of the school.  Lots of shining lights out there today
