I have been a foundation governor at Barton St Peters for about six years. I was Vice Chair for two years and have been Chair for two years. I have recently stepped down from the chair role but will remain on the board for the remainder of my term as a support for the new chair and vice. I have always been a big believer that if you live in a community you should try and give something back to the community. I was heavily involved with the St. John organisation but it was very similar to my job as a paramedic and so I left and became a Cub Scout Leader and then the Group Scout Leader. When I retired I decided that I would become a governor at a school and Barton St Peters was always my first choice.
I have a long association with church Schools since I went to the Church School ( Wilderspin ) on Queen Street and both my daughters went to Barton St Peters. Since becoming a governor and especially the chair of governors I have started to understand the complexities of running a school and teaching in general which I had not seen as a parent.
Away from school my time is taken up with two granddaughters ( 3 and 6 ) and my longstanding hobby is amateur radio.
I am always available should you wish to discuss any school matters either by email or if you leave a message with the school office
