I spent almost the first 50 years of my life in my home city of Hull. Most of my working life was in the public sector with Humberside County Council, North Lincolnshire Council and the NHS.
I have been married to Elaine for 45 years and we have two sons, two daughters in law and two grandchildren. We have lived in Barrow upon Humber for almost 20 years.
My career was spent in and around schools, so on retirement I looked for an area that I could continue to contribute to and at my wife’s suggestion I applied to be a governor.
I want St. Peter’s to be a place where children can learn and grow. Somewhere they feel safe and where we can ensure that they emerge as happy and bright young people, ready for the challenges that lie ahead. As governors we are expected to assist the Head and her team in strategic planning, ensuring that the direction of the school is channelled and challenged, and that the resources provided are used to the maximum benefit of all our children.
